“Outstanding Hotel… A MUST Stay!! The staff was beyond friendly and helpful. They checked out my itinerary and where I wanted to eat and gave local recommendations and I had three incredible meals. About Palacio

On Heerenstraat, inside the historic centre.

Palacio keeps things simple, on purpose. Twenty-two quiet rooms, each with a private bathroom, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi. Breakfast is included with the standard rate and made fresh each morning; room-only rates are available if you prefer.

Whatever the day needs — a walk, a meal, a taxi, a tour — the front desk helps, day or night, in Dutch or English. It’s the part guests mention most in reviews: the late arrival met warmly, the message answered at an odd hour, the help no one had to ask for. The building dates to 2009, in a style that fits the street; the heritage is everything around it — the cathedral, Independence Square, Fort Zeelandia, the Waterkant, and the Central Market, all a short walk from the door.

Explore Suriname

One small capital, many cultures.

Paramaribo shows its mix in ordinary days. Here’s how to make sense of it before you arrive.

Historic inner city of Paramaribo

Paramaribo works because many lineages meet in one small capital: Indigenous, Maroon, Creole, Hindustani, Javanese, Chinese, European, and more. The result is visible in dress, food, languages, faiths, music, and everyday hospitality.

From Palacio, that mix isn’t a theme on the wall — it’s outside the door. Walk into the UNESCO-listed historic centre, then let the front desk help shape food, river, market, and nature plans around the days you actually have.

It depends on the rate you book. On the Flexible rate, you can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before check-in (15:00); within 24 hours of arrival the first night is charged, and a no-show is charged for the full stay. The Non-Refundable rate is a lower price in exchange for being final — no changes or refunds, and the full amount is charged after booking.

Group bookings of five or more rooms (or over USD 2,000) have custom terms; please contact the front desk before booking. Cancellations should be made in writing, by email or through your travel agent; if you booked on a third-party platform, please cancel with them directly.

Hotel Palacio is a smoke-free property, and all rooms are non-smoking. There is a designated area outside for guests who’d like to smoke.

Is there a terrace or lounge at Hotel Palacio?+

What kind of guests stay at Hotel Palacio?+

A bit of everyone. Couples and solo travellers exploring Paramaribo, first-time visitors to Suriname, returning members of the Surinamese diaspora, and remote workers who want a quiet room and reliable Wi-Fi. What they share is a preference for somewhere calm, personal, and walkable over somewhere big.
